We are Your Menopause Nurse
Your Menopause Nurse is comprised of a small team of trained British Menopause Society ( BMS ) nurses who can independently prescribe HRT. We are dedicated to providing personalised, compassionate support and treatment to women who are navigating the menopause. Each of our experienced menopause nurses brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and special interest in addressing the most complex symptoms of the menopause. We use BMS advice and NICE clinical guidance to ensure that you receive the most up to date information in relation to the safe use of HRT and holistic care measures at this time. We are approved and regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
Pearl Clark Brown (Pearly)
Pearly has practised as a nurse within women's healthcare specialities and menopause for almost three decades. Originally from Scotland, where she initially qualified as a registered nurse, she has developed and nurtured her passion for women's health, and became a qualified Independent Prescriber in 2016. She is a long term member of the British Menopause Society ( BMS ) and has completed advanced, certified menopause training with them.
Pearly has a special interest around the complex and sensitive subject of vaginal changes during the menopause and how this can have an impact on your wellbeing, your relationship and your ability to manage normal day to day activities. She is passionate about the subject and has spoken at many live events and written extensively about this. Her most recent peer reviewed clinical article on ideal treatment combinations for this particular symptom was published last year in the Practice Nursing Journal ( Feb 2024 )
When she is not writing, thinking about writing or helping women manage their symptoms better, Pearly's a keen dog walker, enjoys her fitness classes ( despite her knees telling her otherwise ) and loves travelling and seeing what the world has to offer.
Her passion and interest in women's health, the menopause, symptoms and treatment options including HRT and non hormonal treatments, has helped her guide many women through the menopause, based on their health, lifestyle, and personal preferences.
Melanie Dunwell (Mell)
Mell began her nursing career at the University of York in 1997 and has worked primarily in primary care, with a longstanding focus on women’s health and contraception - including coil and implant fitting. She qualified as an Independent Prescriber at the University of Teesside in 2006, enabling her to offer a broader scope of clinical care.
As a member of the British Menopause Society (BMS), Mell has completed their advanced, certified menopause training and remains committed to ongoing professional development through regular updates and learning.
Mell brings a warm, compassionate, and deeply understanding approach to every consultation, ensuring women feel truly supported and heard throughout their menopause journey.
She has a particular interest in migraine and cognitive symptoms during the menopause transition and has spoken at several live events to raise awareness of their impact. Mell offers clear, evidence-based guidance and is able to explore a wide range of management and treatment options tailored to each client’s needs.
Mell has two grown-up children and five grandchildren (so far!). When she’s not offering menopause consultations, you’ll likely find her walking her beloved French bulldog Bert across the North Yorkshire Moors or quietly casting a line on a riverbank - fly fishing being one of her greatest passions.
With her depth of experience, clinical knowledge, and compassionate care, Mell continues to support women through their unique menopause journeys, ensuring each client receives the most up-to-date, evidence-based advice and treatment options.
